Osteopontin has a crucial role in allergic airway disease through regulation of dendritic cell subsets
Article Abstract:
A demonstration that Osteopontin (Opn) is expressed in lungs of asthamatic individuals and that Opn-s, the secreted form Opn, exerts opposing effects on mouse [T.sub.H]2 effectors responses and subsequent allergic airway disease is made. The results show that Opn-s is an important therapeutic target and provide new insight into its role in immunity.
