Overreacting: a manager's dilemma
Article Abstract:
Nurse managers can respond and intervene in a therapeutic way to staff overreactions. Overreactions are a human response which tend to precipitate the same behavior in others, thus leading to an escalating, cyclic effect. There is a continuum of overreactions ranging from mild to severe and infrequent to frequent. Intense feelings and self-perpetuating behavior are characteristic and these repeat negative patterns from the past.

Moving beyond a project's implementation phase
Article Abstract:
It may be helpful to break a project into three stages. The first stage involves identifying the goal of the project and describing the roles of each individual. A timeline can be created at this time to chart progress. The second stage will identify problems in implementation but managers should allow staff to find solutions. Stage three involves evaluating the outcome of the project.

The latex dilemma: an actual case
Article Abstract:
Health care staff can be found sensitive to latex and this can necessitate the use of non-latex gloves. Two types of reactions have been attributed to this problem, the milder one a Type IV contact dermatitis and the more serious reaction a Type I IgE-mediated systemic allergy. The more serious one can mimic other allergic responses and even result in a life-threatening anaphylaxis.
