Patterns of muscle and fat mass repair during recovery from advanced infantile protein-energy malnutrition
Article Abstract:
Children undergoing nutritional recovery (NR) after advanced infantile protein-energy malnutrition show a rapid increase in their muscle mass during the initial NR period, while fat mass increases throughout NR. However, their weight and height remains less than that of normal children of the same age. The body organ mass is unaffected by NR. The mass of the muscles and fat decreases during malnutrition, while most of the major organs are unaffected. Malnutrition in the early stages of life influences growth, and NR is incomplete even after full nourishment following malnutrition.

Early nutrition, essential fatty acid status and visual acuity of term infants at 7 months of age
Article Abstract:
A Dutch study of the diet and essential fatty acid status of babies aged 7 months indicates that these do not have any effect on the visual acuity of babies born at 37-42 weeks gestation. The study was based on 74 babies, which may not be a large enough sample, and there were other limitations as to data. Research needs to be extended.
