Pay body survey reveals 62% of nurses consider quitting...
Article Abstract:
There is a sharp increase in the number of nurses who are thinking about leaving the profession compared to 1993 and 1994. Among the most discontented are midwives, health visitors, staff nurses, ward sisters and charge nurses. The reasons given include lack of pay, a feeling of being undervalued and staff shortages. The overall reduction in patient care due to lack of NHS funds has imposed greater pressure on nurses, adding to the stress of their everyday job. An national increase of 8% is required to boost staff morale and reduce staff shortages.

Registering outrage
Article Abstract:
Many representatives of the medical profession have expressed concern about revelations that the UKCC reinstated a rapist to its register and decided only to caution a heroin smuggler. The UKCC has come under pressure to establish a blacklist of offences which would prevent nurses from working in the profession again, but has so far resisted. There is still a belief in the nursing profession's right to regulate itself, but there is growing concern about the UKCC's policy on professional conduct.
