Polymorphisms of the TAP1 and TAP2 transporter genes in Japanese SLE
Article Abstract:
There does not appear to be a correlation between various forms of a genetic sequence called transporter associated with antigen processing (TAP) and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) among Japanese patients. Blood samples from 52 Japanese patients with SLE and 95 healthy volunteers (control group) were genetically typed for forms of TAP1 and TAP2. The only TAP form present in a higher frequency among patients than the control group was TAP2H with 5.8% of the patients with SLE carrying it and 0% of the control group carrying it.

The A-G polymorphism in exon 1 of the CTLA-4 gene is not associated with systemic lupus erythematosus
Article Abstract:
Variants of the cytotoxic T lymphocyte associated-4 (CTLA-4) gene do not appear to be relevant to the development of systemic lupus erythematosus, an autoimmune connective tissue disorder. Researchers analyzed the gene in 126 lupus patients and 363 healthy patients, but could find no association between the gene and the disease.
