Prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal medicine use in a rural, obstetric population
Article Abstract:
Many pregnant women use some type of medication, including some that should not be taken during pregnancy. In a survey of 578 pregnant women, 96% took a prescription drug, 93% used an over-the-counter medication, and 45% used an herbal product. Fifteen percent took ibuprofen at some time during their pregnancy even though this drug should not be taken during pregnancy.

Medication use in a rural gynecologic population: prescription, over - the - counter, and the herbal medicines
Article Abstract:
A study to document the current medications used by the rural female population is conducted by interviewing non-pregnant women who had gone over a 42-month period. The medicines used by the rural women are substantial and the frequency of use depends on their age and financial status.

Federal task force examines prescription drug importation
Article Abstract:
A 13-member task force created by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services studied the implications of impacting drugs. This became an issue of prominence as more Americans and the government authorities are turning to Canada to import drugs and save money.
