RMNs still await rules on restraint
Article Abstract:
The death of a mental health patient who suffocated while being restrained forced the government to set up a national training scheme and end the poor restraint practices. The nurses awaited National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence guidance for the definitive answer to what was, and what was not, acceptable and however it failed to be prescriptive about the use of physical interventions and focused on prevention of violence.

Therapy waits will thwart guidance
Article Abstract:
New clinical guidance recommending cognitive behavior therapy being offered to all people with depression is not realistic according to the nurses. The guidelines issued by NICE recommend that people with mild depression receive CBT, guided self-help and exercise advice, rather than antidepressants, and people with moderate to severe depressions should receive medication, and CBT if necessary.
