From club to corporation
Article Abstract:
Formal governance is a set of rules established by the board of directors of a medical practice to dictate who makes decisions, how the people are chosen and how long they serve. Governance is incorporated into the practice's documents, such as physician contracts. Governance involves choosing decisionmakers, writing a mission statement, analyzing the competition and planning for the future. In addition, administrative matters such as income distribution and retirement planning must be addressed.
