Storm warning
Article Abstract:
The UK government has outlined its intentions for mental health care. It released the information in the form of a letter addressed to the chairman of an external advisory group. The plans sound impressive. They include more community housing, home treatment, crisis teams, secure units, standards and frameworks. However, the effectiveness of the plans depends upon the government supplying extra finance, and upon health ministers getting to know more about the practicality of mental health care issues through dialogue with service users and mental health staff.

Article Abstract:
The introduction of a performance-related pay scheme linked to performance assessment for teams could herald the start of a new era for nurses pay, which has traditionally been a bone of contention in the UK. The government has proposed a framework pay structure which allows different authorities a degree of flexibility, although nursing unions have reacted angrily to the suggestion that some nurses may receive different pay depending on where they live.
