Effects of computerized clinical decision support systems on practitioner performance and patient outcomes
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to review controlled trials assessing the effects of computerized clinical decision support systems (CDSSs) and to identify study characteristics predicting its benefit. The study concluded that many CDSSs improve practitioner performance and that the effects on patient outcomes, when studied, were inconsistent.

Council member dismissed by White House

The dismissal of council member Elizabeth Blackburn, from the University of California, San Francisco by the Presidents council on Bioethics is reported. Blackburn is known for her discovery of telomeres, the key to cellular aging that launched a new field of cancer research.
