Self-monitoring of blood glucose among adults with diabetes-United States, 1997-2006
Article Abstract:
The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BFRSS) survey was carried out to evaluate as well as encourage adult diabetic patients to self-monitor their blood sugar levels. Although certain limitations were observed a significant raise in patients self-monitoring their blood sugar levels was recorded.

A case study of a 74-year-old woman with type 2 diabetes who is reluctant to insulin treatment is illustrated. The rationale for tight glycemic control and the therapeutic options for diabetes patients are discussed.
