Social solution
Article Abstract:
A community care scheme in London, established in 1993, aimed to provide disabled and elderly people in the region with easy access to a social worker. Camden and Islington Community Health Services NHS Trust joined with Camden Social Services Department to provide social care services to the local community by basing a social worker at Kentish Town Health Centre. The social worker's role was to provide support to the patients of general practitioners and district nurses. The project's success has led the borough to base all social workers responsible for disabled and elderly people in the community.

Gut reaction
Article Abstract:
The introduction of a specialist service has improved life for people suffering from inflammatory bowel disease. All patients believed a specialist nurse would improve their treatment. She also set up a support group.
