Specialty of house: more representation
Article Abstract:
The American Medical Association has restructured its House of Delegates to improve representation of the wide range of physicians practicing throughout the United States. The new House of Delegates gives increased representation to specialty physicians. In 1996, one seat for every 2,000 votes was given to specialty physicians, whereas in 1997, specialty societies are allowed one delegate for every 1,000 votes. The restructuring indicates the organization's attempt to influence healthcare policy in a way that caters to the interests of a diverse group of physicians.

Doctors vote on specialty to represent them in AMA house
Article Abstract:
Physician members of the American Medical Association (AMA) are currently voting for a specialty organization to represent them in the House of Delegates, the AMA's policy-making arm. In 1997, delegates from the specialty organizations will be added to the 424-member House, which now consists primarily of state delegates. The move is part of an effort to make the AMA more inclusive and more representative of its membership.
