The Hospital Nurse's Role in Managed Care
Article Abstract:
Nursing will change as more nurses move to working in managed care environments. Such changes will include increasing prenatal care and number of full-term deliveries, reducing postpartum complications, shorten hospital stays, and decreasing cesarean-section rates while increasing vaginal birth-after-cesarean rates. Nurses in managed care will continue to grow beyond traditional roles and develop innovative, high-quality procedures and programs.

Patient Education: A Guide for Success
Article Abstract:
Nurses need to increasingly become patient educators. Improved patient behavior optimizes healthy outcomes and reduces morbidity and mortality. An effective patient education program tells patients about their procedure, explains diagnoses and health care issues, and can include information about lifestyle conditions. Creating educational guides is cost-effective for patients and other community agencies.
