The "gender gap" in authorship of academic medical literature--A 35-year perspective
Article Abstract:
A 35-year perspective of female physician-investigators among the authors of selected publications is presented to understand the disparities between sexes in academic medicine. Although the proportion of women among both first and senior physician authors of original research in the US has increased, women still form a minority of the authors of original research and guest editorials.

Outcomes of a pilot faculty mentoring program
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to determine whether a junior faculty mentoring program is beneficial to participants and to identify particular positive and negative aspects of such a program to enable others to institute similar programs. The results indicated that the faculty mentoring program had significant benefits for everyone who participated.

Case 4-2004: a nine-month-old boy with an orbital rhabdomyosarcoma
Article Abstract:
The case of a nine-month-old baby is discussed who had an eye tumor called rhabdomyosarcoma. Because of his young age, his doctors were not willing to treat him with traditional radiation treatment. Instead, he was treated with chemotherapy and proton radiation therapy.
