The nature of nurture
Article Abstract:
Nurse clinicians who act as mentors for student nurses during their clinical placements could be more effective if they heeded some suggestions for better practice. They should be friendly and welcoming towards students. They should treat students as participants in the care team, but they should also take advantage of opportunities to impart their knowledge and experience. They should be fully aware of what the student needs to learn during the clinical placement, and they should help students have appropriate learning experiences.

Flexibility in learning
Article Abstract:
Postregistration education and practice (PREP) presents a range of options for UK nurses. Under PREP requirements, nurses must carry out at least five days' study or its equivalent every three years, but many nurses do much more than this. Considerable efforts are being made to ensure that there is greater integration in the range of continuing professional education opportunities for nurses. Developments in this area include accreditation of prior learning and credit accumulation transfer points.
