The new era of medical imaging - Progress and pitfalls
Article Abstract:
A report on the rise of new imaging techniques as useful clinical tools is presented, together with a discussion on two provisions enacted by the US Congress that would reduce Medicare payments for some imaging services by an estimated US$2.8 billion over a five-year period. A review of the work done by the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission is also presented considering the progress and the failures.

Incidentalomas: Clinical correlation and translational science required
Article Abstract:
Incidental findings, the phenomena of improved imaging capabilities, frequently lead to the ordering of further tests, additional inconclusive results, and untold anxiety. In order to address this problem of incidentalomas, both clinical correlation and translational science are required before any technique can help the physicians see with optimal focus.
