The nurse executive in the 21st century: how do we prepare?
Article Abstract:
The best educational preparation for the nurse executive is a matter of debate as more management and fiscal responsibilities appear. In healthcare a revolution exists and there is more and more emphasis on financial management. For graduate education in nursing administration public funds are being cut back. The expensive time-consuming combination MSN/MBA degree has both advantages and disadvantages. Nurse executives, more than others, can bring forward concerns of patients, and are uniquely qualified to design the structure and process for clinical integration.
