Trust poised to decide appendix nurse's fate
Article Abstract:
The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust is soon to make a decision about whether to take disciplinary action against a nurse who removed a patient's appendix under the supervision of a surgeon. The RCN has said that if, at is appears, the nurse was taking part in an experiment, then both she and the doctor are guilt of misconduct. However, it is also concerned to ensure that the nurse concerned is not made a scapegoat, especially as nurses already undertake more difficult procedures under certain circumstances.
