US marijuana laws clamping the lid on pot research
Article Abstract:
The California law, which took effect in November 1996, grants immunity from state laws to individuals in California who have a recommendation from a physician but in 2005 the US Supreme Court ruled that those individuals are not protected from federal prosecution. Continuous legal wrangling with the federal government has scared researchers away from tapping into vast pool of marijuana related research, which is believed by California doctors to have medicinal value.

Bring the magic back to the bullets
Article Abstract:
Governments of various countries are devising strategies to prevent the spread of drug resistant infections in healthcare facilities. Governments can do this by providing market guarantees to buy antibiotics for multidrug-resistant bacteria much in the same way as incentives for vaccine development and could also remove liability obstacles by providing firms that are developing antibiotics against resistant bacteria with immunity from toxicity lawsuits.
