Ultraradical debulking of epithelial ovarian cancer with the ultrasonic surgical aspirator: a prospective randomized trial
Article Abstract:
Advanced ovarian cancers may be safely and effectively removed using an ultrasonic surgical aspirator. Researchers performed either conventional surgery or ultrasonic surgery to remove cancerous tissue from 40 women with advanced (stage IIc to IV) ovarian cancer. The ultrasonic surgery may have removed more cancer than conventional surgery, as reflected by a lower blood level of CA 125 after ultrasonic surgery. No survival benefit could be proven with use of ultrasonic surgery, but ultrasonic surgery patients showed a longer time to relapse of cancer. Ultrasonic surgery caused less blood loss, fewer complications, and allowed patients to be discharged from the hospital earlier. It may be useful in dissecting hard to reach cancerous tissues, and may complement conventional surgery.

Trocar implantation metastasis after laparoscopy in patients with advanced ovarian cancer: can the risk be reduced?
Article Abstract:
Surgeons can lower the risk of metastasis of ovarian cancer to the laparoscopic site by closing all layers of the abdomen rather than just the skin. In a study of 83 women who had laparoscopic surgery for advanced ovarian cancer, closing all layers reduced the rate of metastasis from 58% to 2%.

Angiogenesis in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and the risk of recurrence
Article Abstract:
Angiogenesis does not necessarily predict recurrence of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) after treatment. Angiogenesis is the formation of new blood vessels, which most tumors must do in order to spread.
