Ultraviolet and ionizing radiation enhance the growth of BCCs and trichoblastomas in patched heterozygous knockout mice
Article Abstract:
A mouse model shows that ultraviolet radiation and mutations in the PTCH gene can cause basal cell carcinoma. The mice are heterozygous for the PTCH mutation and develop primordial follicular neoplasms that are converted into basal cell carcinoma when the mice are exposed to UV radiation.

Early involvement of estrogen-induced pituitary tumor transforming gene and fibroblast growth factor expression in prolactinoma pathogenesis
Article Abstract:
Estrogen and fibroblast growth factor-2 (bFGF) both stimulate the expression of the pituitary tumor-derived transforming gene PTTG. In a study of rats, maximal expression of PTTG occurred early in tumorigenesis, and was accompanied by bFGF induction and pituitary angiogenesis.
