Unsung heroines: a vision of home care
Article Abstract:
Nurse managers should recognize the value of home health care aides and their struggles in the face of arduous work, personal indignities, and low pay. Many home health care aides come from multicultural, low-income backgrounds and depend upon their daily wages for their survival. Their hard work and often unfair labors should be acknowledged if managers wish them to remain in service and build lasting relationships with both patients and employers.

TQM: pressure ulcer prevention
Article Abstract:
Total quality management can be used to create a program for prevention of pressure ulcers, as is demonstrated by a county hospital. The program was developed by an interagency task force which included nurses. A seven-phase process illustrates the timeline, beginning with baseline data collection and then proceeding to the team writing a mission statement. Later phases included a survey, plan, proposal, presentation and management assistance.
