Use of antimicrobials in food animals
Article Abstract:
Antimicrobial substances are routinely added to the food of farm animals in order to keep them disease free and the effect this has on human resistance to anti-infective agents needs to be monitored. The WHO's Division of Emerging and other Communicable Diseases Surveillance and Control is debating the issue to determine the impact on humans of using antibiotics in animals.
