Use of continous quality improvement to increase use of process measures in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass graft surgery: a randomized controlled trial
Article Abstract:
A continuous quality improvement process can be used to improve the quality of medical care, according to a study of 359 hospitals where 267,917 patients received a coronary artery bypass. One-third of the hospitals did the operation as usually done, one-third were asked to give more patients preoperative beta blockers, and one-third were asked to use the internal mammary artery. The latter two groups increased their use of both of these recommendations compared to the first group.
