Ways to make treating violence a part of your practice
Article Abstract:
Physicians can help treat and prevent domestic violence by screening their patients for signs of physical and mental abuse. Physicians should ask specific questions, making sure that parents or partners are not present. All responses to questions and all symptoms should be carefully documented. Physicians should also be aware of community resources for victims of abuse and should assess the risk of increased domestic violence for a patient's situation.
