Welcome://to.the.Intranet
Article Abstract:
A new system called the Intranet will use Internet and World Wide Web technology to link medical information networks even if the networks use different software. Physicians will soon use browser programs and groupware, such as Lotus Notes, to find medical information within their organization. Intranet is chosen as a term because the system will operate only within an organization so patient privacy will be protected and organization security assured.

Solo practice: a contrarian view
Article Abstract:

Consolidation and cost pressures have encouraged thousands of physicians to merge with larger medical groups or sell their practices to hospitals. One management consultant maintains that small practices can survive provided that they are cost effective and efficient.
