Whistle-blower: settlement in Medicare abuse suit too low
Article Abstract:
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida will have to pay $10 million in a civil settlement over allegations that they grossly mismanaged Medicare claims. Theresa Burr, the senior claims handler who exposed the problem, plans to oppose the settlement. Burr says that no federal agency worked with her to help pinpoint the extent of the abuse.
