Work versus home?
Article Abstract:
Some 46% of NHS nurses have dependent children, with 12% of the nurses caring for a dependent adult. However, only a few NHS trusts are developing work practices which take the employee's family circumstances into account. There are few job-share positions, and most NHS trusts provide no childcare facilities. If the career prospects of women within the NHS are to be improved, as stated in the Opportunity 2000 initiative, then greater employment flexibility will have to be introduced.
