The American Medical Accreditation Program of the American Medical Assn will measure and evaluate each physician against five major areas delineated by national standards of the US and peer review. Credentials, clinical performance, personal qualifications, patient care and environment of care are these areas. A new US benchmark will be devised for physician quality.

Asymptomatic cases can use preventive medicine codes

The American Medical Assn.'s Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) preventive medicine codes make it possible to provide routine medical and physical histories for asymptomatic individuals. The use of such codes is discussed for such conditions and treatments as musculoskeletal surgery, the digestive system, and chiropractic manipulation.
