Your right to talk to patients: providers welcome ban on Medicaid HMO gag
Article Abstract:
Pres Clinton announced a policy which reinforces Medicaid's ban on gag clauses in the managed care contracts of firms it works with, and plans to push for Congressional legislation outlawing gag clauses entirely. Such clauses ban doctors, nurses or other medical staff from discussing treatment options not covered by insurance and/or give financial incentives which encourage undertreatment. More Medicaid patients are being moved into managed care plans.
