The Work-place (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 come into full effect on Jan.01 1995, and apply to most work-places in the United Kingdom. Hotels, shops and factories, for example, will have to comply with the regulations which cover 27 topics such as maintenance, lighting and drinking water. Practices and facilities for all workers should be considered, including the disabled. Particular reference is made to glazing and lighting.

Article Abstract:
The British government's waste management Nov. 1996 guidelines adds a lot more restrictions to landfill methods since the last publication in 1986. The landfill tax will help to encourage companies to be proactive at seeking better alternatives to waste management. A waste management audit can illustrate to a company where savings in energy and efficiency can be made through the use of recycling technology and other alternative techniques.
