CARD deals with report distribution
Article Abstract:
Compaq Computer Corp has designed a new human resource management system called the Corporate Automated Report Distribution (CARD) which facilitates ease of use and accuracy of program documentation and report distribution. The system integrates information distribution into the report and transfers production report management to report distribution personnel. Further development of the system has resulted in a data base distribution system that gives reports and job responsibilities with greater definition, allowing distribution personnel and programmers to concentrate on tasks that are not maintenance-related. The duration of training on the distribution system has been substantialy shortened by the new system and costs of report distribution lowered by 87%.

HRIS quality depends on teamwork
Article Abstract:
A scenario of human resource information system (HRIS) development in a hypothetical company is presented. The HRIS was needed to collect data for compliance with equal employment opportunity and affirmative action laws. However, the HRIS project schedule was delayed because of overlooked deficiencies in the system, reassignment of key employees and employee intrigues. The situation is used to show that teamwork between information systems and human resource personnel is crucial to HRIS development.
