Employees abroad: maintain the corporate connection
Article Abstract:
U.S. corporations usually do not do a good job of managing Americans who are working overseas. To better manage overseas employees, U.S. corporations must plan for and manage four aspects of assigning employees to foreign countries: (1) assessment of the assignment and selection of the appropriate person, (2) orientation of the employee to the foreign culture, including foreign language education, (3) support for the employee overseas, and (4) re-entry counseling. These and other aspects of personnel management with regard to foreign assignments are discussed in detail.

Retain valuable employees with career adaption counseling
Article Abstract:
Career adaption counselors allow firms to help employees who are fired or laid off to prepare for new jobs in the same business or even in new industries. Goals for career adaption counselors include: the retention of good workers, to maintain a productive workforce, and conserve on recruitment and training costs. Unless the firm is terminating or changing the position, it is more expensive and harder to recruit and train a worker than it is to make better an existing employee situation.
