Epidemics, labour markets and unemployment: the impact of SARS on human resource management in the Hong Kong service sector
Article Abstract:
A link exists between epidemics and their economic consequences, that effects labour markets and jobs. Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) effected Hong Kong economy that is its labour market, levels of employment and unemployment. Of the most, it had a powerful effect on Human Resource Management (HRM). Both the demand and supply of labour sectors were affected significantly by dramatic demand and supply eshocksE.

Corporate restructuring and career advancement in Hong Kong
Article Abstract:
The factors that contribute to career advancement in a sample of forty-four Hong Kong managers working in three local companies that had undergone restructuring are discussed. The findings indicate that they were acutely aware of shifts in the nature of their career paths but generally were reactive in changes rather than proactive.
