Health care
Article Abstract:
The Swedish health care system has traditionally focused on providing care for the sick people and other benefits but failed to concentrate on measures to prevent costs of health care and social security system. The failure has resulted to an increase in hospital waiting-lists and to reduced Swedish health-care resources, bringing more pressure on staff. Problems within the social security system include costs relating to sickness benefit and early retirement pensions. Solutions for these problems need to focus on the financial and political aspect of the Swedish economy.

A welcome air of optimism in Portugal
Article Abstract:
Portugal has undergone a number of remarkable industrial improvements, buoyed by the country's robust economic performance. Growth has been leveled at 3% annually as unemployment rate and inflation has been limited to an average of 6.8% and 2.2%, respectively. Prospects for the country's health care markets also appear bright although instances of medical inflation have been prevalent lately. Despite these gains, the government has been struggling to address its social security problems, particularly issues concerning the introduction of contribution/benefit ceiling.
