Helping to keep out the icy blasts
Article Abstract:
King Albert II signed the Royal Decree on the application of the 'Loi Colla' on Jan. 10, 1996. The controversial Loi Colla, which applies to all Belgian company pension plans, broadly covers equal retirement between men and women, member involvement and the vesting of employer contributions. The Royal Decree focuses on two aspects of the Loi Colla: the benefit guarantee in case a change of plan occurs, particularly in respect of past service; and vested benefits calculation and the transfer of reserves when an employee's services are terminated.

Maxwell isn't the only nightmare
Article Abstract:
The National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF) conference discussed pension fund member security and State pension ages in the UK. The NAPF members discussed the importance of a committee, other than the Courts, that would address the queries of pension fund members and a compensation system for pensions that cannot be paid. The NAPF also recommends a decade of retirement to avoid the integration of State pension with occupational pension.

Mid-season report on corporate governance: UK
Article Abstract:
Findings of a May 19292 survey entitled 'The Corporate Governance Service: A Mid-Season Report' indicate that UK's top executives are not held accountable to shareholders. The survey also considered issues on executive remuneration, dividends and directors' independence. The recommendation was that shareholders abstain from re-appointing the auditors since non-audit fees brings their independence into question.
