Home truths about teleworking
Article Abstract:
Teleworking, technology-aided home-based working, is the focus of interest of many corporations and personnel managers and is considered an inevitable consequence of the revolution in electronic technology. Teleworking requires modifications to managerial control, a shift from emphasizing managing input towards managing output. Corporate management are often reluctant to grant autonomy to teleworkers, and management inflexibility will be a major impediment to fully exploiting teleworking opportunities. Workers, on their part, need psychological preparation to assume the additional responsibilities of teleworking and mangers need to be socialized into a new role emphasizing flexibility. The resistance of management and employees to these new roles will slow down the adoption of the teleworking concept.

Work experience that works
Article Abstract:
Work-study plans in Great Britain help high school students to acquire personal, social, business, and practical skills associated with academic subjects they study. These plans have three stages: preparation, placement, and follow-up. Collaboration among students, teachers and business persons during the preparation phase paves the road to placement. Students in the placement phase are carefully guided through a work experience under the tutelage of academic and business sponsors. An assessment of the experience is reviewed by all participants in the follow-up phase. British Caledonian provides a god example of a work study experience.
