Managing international medical costs
Article Abstract:
Companies need to examine global medical cost-containment methods due to increasing medical costs and the current direction of many governments to transfer the responsibility of those costs to the private sector. They should form strategies based on acquired cost infromation, set objectives, identified and analyzed available utilization information, analyzed available plan design and action plans that are country-specific. Through this process, multinational companies will be able to direct medical cost increases and responsibilty efficiently and effectively.

The Egyptian compensation environment: where change is the only constant
Article Abstract:
Five major changes being implemented by employers in Egypt in their compensation programs are discussed. These include introducing large-scale, across-the-board pay hikes intended to keep pace with inflation and to offset the effects of regional wage disparity, amending company car policies to ease the impact of increased government tariffs, changing the interpretaion of laws concerning vacation policy, investigating other methods for improving pay and examining the feasibility of deferred or variable pay.

Multinational pooling
Article Abstract:
Multinational pooling is a beneficial financing arrangement for companies with international insurance requirements. Companies are able to recover part of their international group benefits costs through multinational pooling. This is because it is a form of international experience rating that gives a dividend to a company after the end of the policy year. It is also an evolving form due to corporate market forces and competetive financial pressures.
