Keeping hate out of the workplace
Article Abstract:
Human resources (HR) professionals must be prepared to deal with problems of hostility and hate in the workplace arising from racism. Despite growing awareness of workforce diversity in many organizations, hostility continues to exist among employees. HR professionals can deal with this hostility by providing a venue for talk wherein employees are encouraged to open up and share their feelings and experiences. It would be extremely helpful to refer to other companies' experiences in similar situations and gain insight from their own efforts to stem hostility. Organizations must check for discrimination in the form of unequal employment opportunities, cultural bias, bigotry and ethnoviolence and seek to ease out these attitudes from the corporate culture. Anti-Defamation League is a human rights group that offers assistance to organizations dealing with workplace hostility problems.

Are white males being left out?
Article Abstract:
Attempts at increasing diversity in the work environment and reducing layers of management has resulted in discrimination in employment against white males. The modification of the corporate culture to remove male dominance and create a corporate environment that accommodates both women and minorities has resulted in the overshadowing of the white male's rights. The human resources departments of companies are tasked with alleviating this discrimination against males by addressing their work and family-related needs, creating programs tailored specifically for men, and involving them in the management of diversity to encourage a positive attitude towards the process.
