Tolls of the carpal tunnel
Article Abstract:
Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) is a work-related injury to the hand and wrist, usually caused by repetitive action. Sheaths encasing the tendons in the wrist become swollen, causing pressure on the adjacent median nerve. Sufferers complain of tingling fingers, pain and a loss of hand strength. Workers most vulnerable to CTS include aerospace, forestry, musicians and sheepshearers, who either experience vibration from instruments or use repetitive grasping movements for extended periods of time. The main way to reduce the risk of CTS is to minimize unnatural and unwieldy hand and wrist movements.

The move is part of an EU strategy to address pollution-related diseases and also to reduce the level of pollutants. An overview of how the UK will benefit from the new Directive is given, along with the costs of implementing the changes required.
