Article Abstract:
Cahill Gordon and Reindel took two years for its upgrade process from a 386-based PC network to a new system using Pentium computers running Windows 95 on all desktop computers which will be launched using a pilot group of 25 people on Aug 12, 1996. The upgrade process included planning, research, lab studies and pilot programs. Almost everyone at the firm gave input. Clients force tech on firms; corporate counsel tell lawyers to use e-mail, intranets, etc., to cut firm fees
Article Abstract:
Clients of corporate counsel are demanding increasing automation as a way of cutting firm fees. The use of technology makes alternative fee arrangements easier, including flat-fee arrangements and task-based billing. Almost all outside counsel recognize the merits of upgrading their technology. An in-house technological demand, namely the use of intranets, has the potential for making legal work a more collaborative effort.
