The division of opinion on Internet settlement services is described and some of these services are surveyed.Attorneys caution that these services are only suitable when liability is not in dispute and some only use them for claims totaling less than $25,000.

Article Abstract:
The increasing use of the Internet in legal practice is discussed, with legal research experiencing the greatest changes and more than half of lawyers using e-mail. Free Internet services are popular for research but not the sole source, as lawyers tend to rely on CD-ROMS and books because of familiarity.

The increase in online continuing legal education (CLE) is discussed, and in addition to video, this can include chat- or bulletin boards for participants. A total of 25 of the 41 states which require CLE permit attorneys to fulfil at least some of credits online.
