Computer Graphics University
Article Abstract:
Benefits for law firms using state-of-the-art multimedia presentation tools to create vivid images for judges and juries are presented. Increasing numbers of attorneys are depending on computer generated graphics from paint and image editing programs, drawing programs, page layout programs, 3D animation and digital video to enhance their respective practices. Paint and image editing programs provide manipulation tools to enhance scanned images. Drawing programs rely on precise shapes, lines and details to create graphics that produce professional exhibits and briefs. Page layout programs provide law firms with a combination of photographs, text, line art, image processed output or clip art to create single or multiple documents. 3D animation provides legal offices with simulation tools to replicate viewpoints, textures, lighting effects and colors of real world settings on computer screens. Digital video allows attorneys to edit, alter and enhance digitized videotape footage with added sound.

Classic Mac programs
Article Abstract:
Five classic Macintosh software packages are reviewed. Microsoft's Word 5.1a offers all the features lawyers need and is a stable program. It is easy to use and provides a work menu that lets users inset boiler-plate text with a mouse click. On Technology's On Location is an inexpensive, outstanding full-text search engine. Although it lacks Boolean and fuzzy search capabilities, its speed compensates for these shortcomings. On Location displays retrieved files in a window from which users may launch, view or move any file. Caere's OmniPage Professional 6.0 OCR software produces accurate scans and recognizes 11,000 words per minute. OmniPage can save documents in HTML, allowing users to post them directly to the Internet. Now Software's Now Contact contact management software and its Up to Date scheduling software cost less than $100, but are excellent for calendaring, docket control and creating form letters. The programs also make it easy to create customized documents.
