Untangle the Web with HotPage
Article Abstract:
DocuMagix' $79 HotPage Web browser add-in brings welcome organization to Web browsing, since it allows users to store Web pages on the local drive. HotPage saves files as HTML documents, if users select the HotSave option. The HotPrint command allows users to save the Web page as an image that may be seen with the included document viewer. Web pages may be saved in both formats, and when they are stored as images, they may be E-mailed, faxed or printed using commands on the user's toolbar. In either format, the links back to the original Web pages are saved, making it easy to re-visit the sites. The interface is somewhat cluttered, since the software uses the metaphor of a filing cabinet. Opening a drawer in the cabinet opens a new window, but the newly opened window obscures previously opened windows, making it impossible to see more than one folder at a time.

Build a Fortres around your computer
Article Abstract:
Fortres Grand's Fortres 101 is a convenient program that protects files and directories in Windows 3.1 and Windows 95 while preventing access to specific Windows functions. Fortres 101 is aimed at system administrators who manage programs and system settings, and it is priced at $395 for up to 50 computers. Fortres 101 performs optimally in a network setting, but it also runs on standalone machines. Fortres 101 features easy modification of security settings, as well as many security options. Fortres 101 for Windows 95 includes four basic security sections: File Protect, Windows-Disable, File System and User. The File Protect section protects classes of files from modification or deletion with a Secure File System. The Windows-Disable section prohibits the use of many standard Windows 95 features such as Folders, Explorer and DOS Prompt.
