Law and economics finds its niche; the J.D. program at George Mason has a free-market flavor, with a hint of Chicago
Article Abstract:
George Mason University School of Law near Chicago is the home of the law and economics movement and scholars espousing that philosophy still predominate among its faculty. George Mason's free-market orientation has made it attractive to former employees of the Reagan and Bush administrations. Each student chooses one of five tracks but courses in each track emphasize law and economics. This emphasis vexes some students but has brought the school renown.

Court advises: 'do it like this.' Judge Frank Easterbrook chastises lawyers for not following instructions
Article Abstract:
Judge Frank Easterbrook of the US Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit in his Nov 15, 1996, decision in Guarantee National Title Co., Inc. v. J.E.G. Associates threw a plaintiff out of court and expressed displeasure at the attorney's inability to establish jurisdiction. The judge did so in such pointed terms that some critics said judges should make extra efforts not to be snide toward lawyers who are trying to do their best.
