Seeing the forest and the trees
Article Abstract:
Stephen B Brown, the senior vice pres and general counsel of Champion International Corp, one of the major producers of forest products such as paper, lumber and plywood with annual 1998 sales of $5.6 bil, has charge of 10 in-house attorneys whose average tenure with the company is 15 to 20 years. Brown attributes this lack of turnover to the high degree of responsibility given each in-house counsel.
