IRS to collect from Dad? U.S. government seeks more control over child support
Article Abstract:
Lawmakers are becoming increasingly aware of the need to better enforce the payment of court-ordered child support. According to a 1989 US Bureau of the Census report, only 26% of single parents received all the child support coming to them. Suggestions range from giving the IRS enforcement and collection responsibilities to mandating the interstate honoring of child support orders without modification. The Full Faith and Credit for Child Support Orders Act, currently in the Senate, would accomplish this. About eight states have adopted versions of a similar uniform state law.

In novel AIDS suit, wrongful death is alleged
Article Abstract:
A NY couple are plaintiffs in a $22 million wrongful death action charging their dead son's longtime male lover, Joseph Sullivan, with negligence for failing to inform their son, Anthony Blanco, that he was HIV-positive. Anthony Blanco's will is also being contested. Suits by parents of dead AIDS victims may become a future trend, say those keeping track of AIDS litigation.
