DNA bill of rights; activists call for standards on imate testing, evidence preservation
Article Abstract:
The push for standards on DNA testing of inmates and on evidence preservation is discussed. Peter Neufeld and Barry Scheck of the Innocence Project push for a federal law to give all state inmates an absolute right to DNA testing. Different and often lacking state laws on evidence preservation are another problem.

The usefulness of dog scent evidence in criminal investigation is discussed. The evidence is suitable for establishing probable cause, according to one expert, but by itself does not indicate guilt.
