New to the law but not to life; older law school grads may find their best opportunities in the public sector
Article Abstract:
Potential age discrimination liabilities do not keep many law firms from reluctance to hire older law school graduates in their late 30s to 50s because of their age, and large firms tend to worry that such individuals will not work with the same intensity as younger lawyers. Creativity in the job search as well as use of experience and maturity as selling points can, however, land older law school graduates a job. Older new lawyers often become government attorneys or work in legal aid offices.
